Life Less Literary - Dan Sumption lives here: Bitten by a Police Dog

  • gd2 · 3 years ago
Darn, Dan, that sucks ! Really scary shit.

I hope the wounds heal well and quickly.

Don't they train police dogs to not attack or go after other dogs !? Seems obvious to me...

Dogs, for Police, are pretty useful but they're also a bit of a loose canon when they're turned "on". The bite you got, compared to what a dog can do, isn't that bad. For you, it's the total shits, and you have every right to be pissed off.

Have you talked to the Police yet about what they're going to do for you as an innocent bystander? Clearly they should be civilly liable for *something*.

Now I'm not one to get into the compensation culture in our land of litigation, but I must say: Sue the bastards!

Frightening incident. Make complaints to the police and take legal action. You should do so because these are the only ways of making the police change how they behave. In this case they are clearly not in full control of their dog. It is not a matter of money or getting back at anyone, but a responsibility you can take on if you wish on behalf of all of us. I don't like the compensation culture either, but what recourse do we have in these circumstances other than litigation? Good luck. (Can suggest solicitors if you want.)

I would sue the police, the dog is a danger to the public and they are responsible for injuries, and anything else such as pain and suffering. I would also demand action against the dangerous dog that attacked you, inother words the same fate your little pooch would suffer if it did something like that to a cop, or anyone else

I wanted to sue, but left it too late - I'd heard that you had 3 years to act in, but apparently the original complaint needs to come in the first year.

No need for an attorney - I'm not dead yet.
